Something bold, something new, something brush lettered, something blue.
Whenever we get the opportunity to work with Jenin Paradise of Planning for Paradise, our hand-lettered dreams tend to kick it up a notch. Her unique vision + impeccable style are the stuff of stationery bucket lists. So, when we showed up for our Bright + Modern styled shoot for 100 Layer Cake at Magnolia Bridal in the gorgeous riverside town of St. Charles, Illinois, things got all the more interestig when Jenin spied a gorgeous DIY blue butterfly wall. Her eyes lit up + the creative gears started turning. What followed was something we just, ya know, threw together.
When you have a butterfly wall + dream team, magic happens.
Like the beauty of a butterfly's wings, we were going for a light + airy color palette, mixed with deeper, richer tones to compliment the changing of summer into fall. I immediately saw a deep Prussian blue gouache ink in my future. Washes of the inky blue popped alongside delicate accents of gold Sumi ink.
Adding soft textural elements like brush lettering can make a bold color work in an elegant setting. Be brave with color + texture.
This gold monogram design was a fun accent. Both timelessness + on trend, crests are a wonderful way to showcase your couples-style in an modern, elegant way. Starting with a delightfully unexpected card shape, I combined our Simply Intertwined monogram design with other more ornate elements.
