I'm not a big New Year's person. It's probably just the ex-bartender/introvert in me that negatively associates the holiday with loud, over-crowded, over-priced parties, filled with anticipation, bad decisions + so, so much expectation. Ugh...
As the years have passed, I've grown to enjoy the down time between the holidays. Now is the post Black Friday, post gifting craze, pre drunken ball dropping madness time. Apparently, I exist well in the in-between. It gives me time to think. To reflect.
Where were you 365 days ago?
Who was there? Who has changed? What has changed?
What have you learned?
Looking back on this past year makes my head spin a little. Let's forget politics for a minute here (if that's even possible in 2017). Our year literally started with a car fire + a positive pregnancy test. Ultimately, Mr. Bravo + I were set on an adventure we could never have prepared for.
Needless to say, this has been one hell of a year. Me being, well, me, I decided to spend a little time doing what I love as a means to unwind. My calligraphy practice is such a special time for me, because I can get lost in it. All the external stressors + internal to-do lists melt away, if only for a brief moment. And hey, it usually results in something pretty. The beauty of the practice is that you can calligraph anything that calls to you. This afternoon, I decided to introduce Little Lucs to my favorite version of the holiday classic Auld Lang Syne. So, I sat down to my calligraphy desk, hit play on Mairi Campbell + just let the melody carry me away...
That said, I was feeling especially "of the season" afterwards + decided to give this penned original copy to one of my followers! If you haven't already, pop on over to my Instagram + check out my little festive GIVEAWAY post, like it + tell me how you plan on celebrating the holiday! Even if it is a cocktail attire, glitter-infused party ;) no judgement, luv. In fact, good for you....
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet...
Happy New Year to you + yours from Más+Millie, ie. Becka + Christian
+ now, of course, little Lucs. xx
