Calligraphy for Kids Workshops

Pointed pen Modern Calligraphy for your creative mini-me! Your instructor, Becka Bravo, will introduce how to use a pointed nib dip pen + guide your kiddo through the forming of basic shapes + strokes. There will be a general overview of letterforms, including a full lower + uppercase modern alphabet set to continue their practice at home! 
 
Parents do not need to remain in the room for class, though they are certainly encouraged to stay + watch - as long as they don't pose a distraction. If you would like to participate + take the class along with your child, you may purchase an additional seat for yourself. 
 
All supplies (listed below) are included + yours to keep! They will be ready for you when you come to class.

Note from Becka:There is no suggested age range for this class. Our goal for this class is less about forming the correct letterforms*, but in getting ink to paper + learning how to use a new medium to create something fun! Some kids may pick up the formation of basic calligraphic strokes more quickly than others + as such will certainly get some special instruction on their lettering. Each child will be provided with worksheets + guides demonstrating a full modern alphabet, which they will be able to continue to use at home, regardless of skill level. But if creating a fun pattern of strokes with a new inky tool is where your budding artist needs to start in the classroom, that will also be highly encouraged! One-on-one instruction in something like pointed pen calligraphy is so beneficial as it means your child will get individual attention for their individual skill level. 
 
*A general introduction to + understanding of cursive handwriting is highly encouraged. If your child has a comprehensive understanding of cursive lettering + you would like for them to experience a more in-depth introduction to pointed pen calligraphy, they may be more suited to our Modern Calligraphy for Beginners Workshop. If you are wondering whether a class is right for you or your child, please reach out at becka@masandmillie.com
